lifestyle/family portrait sessions I $399

Hello! Thanks for stopping by, I am glad you’re here & thrilled that you are interested in my work. I absolutely love being a photographer. I use the term lifestyle to describe what I do, which is another way of saying documentary. This means I prefer to capture people being real, themselves. To get that I don’t do a lot of formal posing. I like my subjects moving & having fun. I use this style in weddings, family sessions & portraits. This method works especially great with kids. Kids tend to last longer on a shoot if you let them move around, have fun, eat snacks, play with props or whatever it takes. An organized form of chaos if you will. Authentic pictures of people are easier to capture when … they are allowed to be themselves. I want to create pictures that you will cherish. I want moments that will make you smile. I want pictures that show real moments. Isn't that the point of getting your picture taken?

Portrait Session Basics

  • Setting up a shoot is easy. First thing to do is find a date. I shoot portrait sessions Monday's - Thursdays. I will shoot on weekends if I don't have a wedding.
  • I generally shoot either 2 hours before sunset or in the very early morning after the sun rises. Before sunset tends to work better
  • For all shoots, especially ones that include smaller kids or babies I highly suggest doing at least part of the shoot at home. I can make almost anything work. Doing this will almost certainly give you better quality pictures. Familiar surroundings are better for kids.
  • Once we get a date set I will send you a style guide which has not only wardrobe suggestions but a list of locations I've used before that work well. I'm always open to new suggestions. There is no limit on locations as long as they further than 30 miles from St. Louis
  • Once we agree on a date all portrait sessions require a 50% down payment to reserve the date. This can be made via regular mail or by CC/debit. The remainder of due prior to or on the day of the shoot.
  • Portrait sessions generally take 3 - 4 weeks to complete depending on the time of year. During busy wedding peaks (Spring/Fall) the time may be longer.
  • I usually deliver around 150-200 pictures from a shoot. When I am done editing upload the full sized JPEGs to a password protected online gallery. I send you a link to the gallery and you get to download everything, get prints made & share the link with anyone you want to have pictures. How easy is that!

When & Where do we shoot?

The time of the year is all up to you. I shoot in all seasons! The most popular time of the year is in the fall. I shoot a lot of family sessions in October & November. Everyone has their favorite time of the year & that is the time you should try to schedule a shoot. Remember that different times of the year means different types of wardrobe as well!

Where we shoot is pretty important! We can shoot at your home, in a nature or urban setting. You can also use a combination. I have no issues shooting at more than one location. Sometimes starting at home, getting shots of everyone in their natural environment getting ready to go can produce great results. Especially with younger children.
