Grand Canyon at Sunrise ~ Travel

The Grand Canyon was my last stop before Vegas last summer. I remember trucking (keep on trucking) into Flagstaff in the middle of the night.  I had to get to the Canyon before the sun came up so there was no time to sleep.  I noticed, as I began the trek north that there was nothing on the road to the Grand Canyon.  Let me repeat that, nothing.  No buildings, street lights, nothing.  I didn’t even pass a car for an hour.  I stopped about half way up there and pulled over to the side of the road.  I got out of the car, turned it off and just listened.  I listened to nothing.  Silence and solitude.  Look for the near dark photo in the post with the moon in the upper right hand side.   I am pretty sure this is the moment that really changed me.  I had never been truly alone before.  I liked it, a lot.  The feeling was so calming.  Once I got to the canyon, I was blessed to see one of the most impressive sunrises I have ever seen before.
